Otto Friedrich Müller was a Danish naturalist. He wrote two important works, the first Fauna Insectorum Friedrichsdaliana (1764) were he listed the insects and flora of the estate of Frederiksdal, near Copenhagen.

He second work Zoologiae Danicae Prodromus (1776) was the first survey of fauna in Denmark and Norway. He Classified over 3000 species.

He was the first to discovered the diatom, the colonial diatom Bacillaria paradoxa, unfortunately he mistook it for an animal due to its movement.
